[May Point Network] The Thai government announced on the evening of 21st that it would lift the curfew imposed on the eastern tourist city of Pattaya. This is the first time the Thai government has lifted a curfew against a certain area since the "Red Shirt Army" stopped gathering on the 19th.
The Government Emergency Management Center issued a notice at 8:45 that night, saying that the curfew in Pattaya, Chonburi Province seriously affected the local tourism industry, and therefore decided to immediately lift the curfew. The announcement was issued less than 15 minutes from the start of the curfew on that night.
Pattaya is a famous tourist city in Thailand. It is located about 190 kilometers southeast of the capital Bangkok. In April 2009, it was the host of the ASEAN and Dialogue Summit.
The leaders of the "Red Shirt Army" announced on the 19th that they would stop the rally and surrender to the police. In the afternoon, the Government Emergency Management Center announced a curfew in Bangkok and surrounding areas. That night, the curfew was extended to all 24 provinces implementing the emergency law. On the 20th, the curfew period was extended to 22 days, from 9:00 pm to 5:00 pm. (China Economic Net)
